Welcome to the Fieldson Herd of Pedigree Limousins

The Fieldson Herd was established at Poplar Farm in November 1990 by Michael Fieldson following his completion of 5 years at Riseholme Agricultural College. His father John had always kept a beef suckler herd and also a beef finishing enterprise. Michael wished to take the business in a new direction and felt that pedigree Limousin cattle were the future.

The first cow purchased was Tudor Blossom from Banbury Market. This cow promptly produced a heifer calf which we named Foxy. The Fieldson herd was born.

Further purchases were made at various pedigree sales, most animals selected on visual appeal and conformation as little was known about the breeding lines at this stage.

Our next aquisition was a stock bull – Hartside Frost. This bull produced quiet natured and milky females and we still have pedigrees going back to Frosty.

The herd now consists of 100 pedigree breeding cows plus followers, we also have a commercial finishing unit. Michael runs the farm in partnership with his brother Matthew.

Our aim has always been to breed top quality animals that have excellent conformation, milk supported by good EBVs. We also believe that a very good temperament is just as important especially when handling bulls or freshly calved cows.

We are a member of the Hi-Health Scheme and we are in a 4 year TB area.

The farm consists of 500 acres in the heart of Lincolnshire.
